Department of Physics

The Department of Physics is established in the year 1970 and continues to serve the underprivileged with quality education for last 50 years. The department is known for reputed teaching and research. The department has a team of 5 highly qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty. The department has 2 Ph.D. research guides and running a major research project under DST-SERB-TARE scheme. The Department has spacious, well-furnished and well equipped laboratories along with a dark room for optics experiments. Recently the laboratories have been upgraded using DST- FIST grants. Apart from B.Sc. Physics, the department also run certificate course on “Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic” in collaboration with Maharashtra State Board Of Vocational Education Examination. Credentials of having students who are Gold medalist working as scientists in DRDO, in Defense as fighter pilots, as Assistant Professor in different colleges, as journalist. Seven students have completed M.Phil. in Material Science (Ferroelectricity).

Goals

  • To train students in skills related to research, education, industry, and market.
  • To familiarize the students with current and recent scientific and technological developments
  • To enrich knowledge of the students through problem solving, hand on activities, study visits, projects etc.
  • To impart sufficient knowledge and skills to the students to be able to gain admission to and succeed in physics and related post-graduate programs.

  • To help students build-up a progressive and successful career in Physics
  • To provide in depth knowledge of scientific and technological aspects of Physics
  • To create foundation for research and development in Theoretical and Experimental Physics
