Departmental event and Activities (2015 onwards)
2015-2016
Fazilat-E-Ramzan event on 29thJune, 2015 at PIMSE. Prof. Aziz Mohiuddin, Department of
Chemistry, was the main speaker of the function. Dr. G.M. Nazeruddin (Principal) presided
over the function. Dr. Abdul Bari HoD Urdu, Persian & Arabic, Mr.KhanMoinuddin
Associate Professor of Arabic, Mr. Jawed Akhtar Assistant Professor of Persian, Mrs. Nusrat
Hashmizade, staff members and students were present in the Program.
All Maharashtra Pyam e Rahmat Trophy (Siratunnabi) Inter-collegiate Elocution
Competition held on 09th January 2016. Students from various colleges participated in this
competition. This competition was organized in three languages (Urdu, Marathi and English).
Janab Maulana Sadrul Hasan Nadvi HoD Arabic, Sir Sayyed College Aurangabad was the
Chief Guest of the Program.
All Maharashtra Mohammad Ali Mitha Memorial Inter-collegiate Elocution Competition
held on 02nd February 2016.
Hamd o Naat Khwani (Poetry Recitation) Inter-collegiate Competition held on 16/01/2016 at
conference hall of our college.
2016-2017
The Department in association with All India Pyam e Insaniayat Forum, Lucknow organized
a program on peace and communal harmony on 01/09/2015.The topic of the program was
“Message of Humanity to the New Generation” Maulana Sayyed Bilal Hasni Nadvi from
Lucknow was the guest speaker, besides him a number of speakers addressed the audience
including Head of the Department Prof. Khan Moinuddin. Dr. Shakil Ahmad Director
PIMSE presided over the function.
One Day State Level Seminar on “Allama Iqbal Ke Afkar o Nazariyat” on 03/09/2016. Prof.
Mohsin Usmani Nadvi a famous Islamic scholar and Iqbal Expert from Hyderabad was the
Key-note Speaker. The Seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Abdurrauf Khan Chairman Urdu
Academy Maharashtra. Scholars from various universities and colleges of Maharashtra
presented papers in the seminar. Mr. Rajendra Joshi and Dr. Sahib Ali from university of
Mumbai were the Guests of Honor. Dr. Shakil Ahmed vice Principal Arts and Director
PIMSE and Dr. Aftab Anwer Vice Principal Commerce presided respectively over inaugural
and valedictory functions. This seminar was a grand success according to the participants.
All India Mushaira on 03/09/2016. It was presided over by Mr. Munawwar Peerbhoy and Mr.
Haji Ibrahim Shaikh(Bhaijan) inaugurated the Mushaira. Mr.Rauf Khan Chairman Urdu
Academy Maharashtra, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Dr. Aftab Anwer and Mr. Salat Baig (Trusty)
were present in the Mushaira.
Student Seminar on 15/12/16 it was inaugurated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed (vice Proncipal)
students of M.A. Urdu presented their papers in the seminar on literary topics and according
to the audience the seminar was very useful for them.
Guest Lecture under “Bazm e Adab” on “ Adab Kya Hai” (What is Literature) on
31/12/2016. Dr. Sunil Deodher, Program Officer AIR, Shivaji Nagar, Pune, was the Chief
Guest and Key speaker of the event. More than 70 students from different departments
benefited from this program.
All Maharashtra Mohammad Ali Mitha Memorial Inter-collegiate Elocution Competition on
07/01/2017 in Seminar Hall of the College. Students from various colleges of Maharashtra
participated in the competition. It was inaugurated by Honorable Trustee (AKI Trust) Mirza
Salat Baig. Dr. Sadrul Hasan Nadvi from Aurangabad was the Chief Guest of the Program.
The first prize and the Rolling Shield was won by Poona College. Mr. Jawed Akhtar
Assistant Professor (Persian) was the Coordinator of this program.
Guest Lecture on “Mass Media; Importance and Opportunities” held on 21/01/2017 for the
students. Mr. Danish Reyaz (Director Maeeshat Media Limited, Mumbai) was the Chief
Guest and speaker of the Program. More than seventy students were benefited from the
program. It was a grand success as per the audience.
The Department successfully conducted the technical session of Urdu, Arabic and Persian as
a part of International Interdisciplinary Conference on “Contemporary Issues in Social
Sciences, Language and Literature”, held on 27-28th January-2017.
All Maharashtra Pyam e Rahmat Trophy (Seeratunnabi) Inter Collegiate Elocution
Competition held on 04/02/2017 in Seminar Hall of our College. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed
(Director PIMSE) was the Chief Guest and Dr. Ghulam Dastgir from Sholapur was the Guest
of Honor. Honorable Trustee (AKI Trust) Mirza Salat Baig presided over the function in the
inaugural session and Dr. M. Rafique Sarkhawas (Principal) was the president in the
valedictory function. A number of colleges from all over Maharashtra participated in it. The
Competition was conducted in three languages Urdu, English and Marathi. The Rolling
Trophy was won by The Poona College. Mr. Khan Moinuddin Associate Professor and head
of the Dept. was the Coordinator of this program.
2017-18
College level Elocution Competition on “Role of Muslims in Indian Freedom Movement”
held on 11/08/2017. Dr. Abrar Ahmad Assistant Professor Urdu was the Incharge of the
programme, about 80 students benefitted from this event.
Recitation of Holy Quran Competition “held on 21/12/2017, in Conference Hall. Dr. Abrar
Ahmad Assistant Professor Urdu was the In charge of the program. 58 students participated
in this event.
All Maharashtra Mohammad Ali Mitha Memorial Elocution Competition held on 06/01/2018
in conference hall of our college. Jawed Akhtar Assistant Professor (Persian) was the
coordinator of the programme and 130 students benefitted from this event.
All Maharashtra Pyam e Rahmat Trophy (Seeratunnabi) Elocution Competition held on
27/01/2018 in conference hall of our college. Khan Moinuddin Vice Principal & HoD Urdu,
Arabic and Persian, was the convener and Dr. Abdul Bari Assistant Professor (Urdu) was
coordinators of the program and 70 participants benefitted from it.
National Interfaith Conference on “Prophet Muhammad for All” held on 07/02/2018 at
College Ground. Representatives and religious leaders of various religions addressed this
conference and nearly 500 participants benefitted from it. The Program was Coordinated by
Mr. Khan Moinuddin (HoD) and Professor Akhtarul Wasay (President of Maualana Azad
University, Jodhpur) was The Chief Guest.
2018-19
An International Film Festival entitled: Nilufer e Aabi (Water lily) was organized by the
Department in association with Iran Culture House Mumbai on 25,26/07/2018. Movies from
three countries namely Iran, Turkey and Germany were screened and a large number of
audience mainly from Iranian community in Pune attended and appreciated the event.
Guidance “Talk on Message of Urdu Literature for Youth”. (External Expert: Dr. Abdul Aziz
Ambekar) held on 29/08/2018 and coordinated by Mr. Jawed Akhtar Assistant Professor
(Persian)
Guidance talk on Urdu Poetry. (External Expert: Dr. Nazir Fatehpuri) held on 15/09/2018.
Dr. Abrar Ahmad was the Coordinator of the Program.
A Guidance Talk on Urdu Journalism on 08/12/2018 for U.G. and P.G. Students the external
Expert was Mrs. Shahtaj (Ex-Media Person) and convener of the program was Dr. Abdul
Bari
Workshop on Mass Media & Journalism held on 15/12/2018. Mr. Seed Hameed and Mrs.
Shah Taj (Journalists) were the external experts. Dr. Abrar Ahmad was the Coordinator of
the Program.
Inter-Collegiate Recitation of Holy Quran Competition on 20/12/2018. Students from the
colleges of Pune participated in this event. Dr. Abrar Ahmad was the Coordinator of the
Program.
All India Mohammad Ali Mitha Momerial Essay writing competition held on 31/12/ 2018.
Students from all over India participated in this competition. The Competition was
coordinated by Dr. Abdul Bari Assistan Professor Urdu.
All Maharashtra Pyam e Rahmat Trophy Seeratunnabi Elocution Competition on 12/01/2019
in Conference Hall of the College. Students delivered speeches on the life and message of the
Holy Prophet and the winners got Prizes.
A One Day National Level Seminar on “Contribution of Indians to Multilingual Literature
with Special Reference to Allma Shibli, Maulan Azad and Nawab Siddique Hasan Khan”
held on 26/02/2019. Prof. Mohsin Usmani Nadvi a famous Islamic scholar was the Key-note
Speaker. Scholars from various universities and colleges of Maharashtra presented paper in
the seminar. This seminar was a grand success according to the participants.
2019-20
A Special Lecture on the “Real Concept of Gender Equality” in conference hall of the college
was held on 14/12/2019. Noted writer from Mumbai Mr. Shamim Tarique was invited to
deliver the lecture. About 122 participants were present and the program Coordinator was
Mr. Jawed Akhtar.
A Two-Day State Level Seminar on the theme entitled “Contribution of Maharashtra to the
Urdu, Arabic and Persian Language & Literature” in conference hall of the college on 20-21
December 2019. There were 73 participants and Mr. Qamar Siddiqui, renowned Urdu scholar
from Mumbai was invited as Chief Guest.
An Inter-collegiate Holy Quran and Poetry recitation (Qirat and Naat) competition was
organized by the Department on January 2, 2020 in Conference hall of the college. There
were 84 participants.Winners were given cash prizes and certificates.
The All Maharashtra Payam E Rehmat Trophy (Seeratunnbi) State level Intercollegiate
Elocution Competition was held on 11 January 2020 in conference hall of the college.
Students from different colleges in the state numbering around 75 participated in the event.
The trophy was lifted by Poona College of Arts Science and Commerce.
All India Mohammad Ali Mitha Memorial Essay writing Competition 2019-20 held on 10th
March 2020. Students from all over India participated in this competition. The Competition
was coordinated by Dr. Abdul Bari Assistan Professor Urdu.
